Web Designing Best Practices for Learners

When you get started to make a website for yourself, you naturally want to use tools that will make the task easier, like WYSIWYG editors and Sitegrinder. Nevertheless, it’s a good idea to read up on some vital design principles if you’re just starting out, especially if it is your first website. Many sites currently are managed with the same tools; there are many Sitegrinder and WYSIWYG software users worldwide, but what will place your website apart from theirs is your understanding of design principles. SiteGrinder 2 can help you create your own website even if you’re not familiar with the basics. For new web designers, here are five of some of the most crucial factors to bear in mind when designing your website:

  • Some people are tender of using fonts that are too stylized to be recognizable, and it’s nearly justifiable when used on banners, but using them on the body of the website’s content is a different story. Using the wrong kind of font, the wrong size of fonts, and the wrong font color is definite to drive majority if not all of your website’s visitors away.
  • A reasonably-assembled and organized navigational menu preferably at the top half of the page. Keep it as simple as possible, label it with words that are regularly applied in navigational menus, and keep it in the same place in the entire subpages of your website. It should also not move around as your visitors browse through other pages on your website.
  • A website that doesn’t have music which will obscure their own. Flash sites mostly have background music on them, but most people who know how to do it black it out anyway; those who can’t turn it off only close the window. Give your users a selection to turn off the music because they might already be listening to their own music and adding yours will be boisterous and impenetrable.
  • Unwarranted amount of advertisements on the pages. It’s appropriate for you to have advertisements on your website; it’s a good way to generate some income to keep the website up and running. Some ads like pop-ups, pop-unders, and interstitial pages can be so annoying and intrusive that most of your readers would really rather leave your site than cope with it.
  • Keep your background ordinary and unfussy. Too many moving images on your website can also be annoying and distracting to your readers. Have you ever aimed reading text that convenes right beside an animated image?

You can’t always delight everybody with the website that you create; there’s always something wrong, something absent, or something that needs to be revised. Your major matter is to help your readers uncover what they are looking for in your website. How much promotion would you consider too much? Learning about website design is a big chance to improve on your talents, as long as you are open to new ideas. Sure enough, you can’t satisfy every person, but you’ll notice that more people will visit and go back to a well-designed, well-thought out website.
