Design Living Room Color

Simple Sewing Decorates Your Living Room
Of course you can update your living room with contemporary abstract wall art, metal wall art or copper wall sculpture, but with a few basic skills, you can ramp up your design efforts and really give your living room a personal touch. There are many simple projects that you can sew for your living room that require little more than sewing a straight line. Choose colors and fabrics that appeal to you and that are attractive in your room, and remember to select some bold accent colors. Then you can start sewing and put together a great look for your living room space.
Easy and Fun Throw Pillows.
Creating pillows for your couch is a really gratifying DIY project. If you have naked pillows, or pillows with slip covers, you can simply make additional covers for your pillows and switch them around when the mood strikes you. To make the cover you simply outline the pillow on your fabric, and cut two pieces of fabric out, one for the front, and one for the back. With right sides together sew along three sides of the pillow cover using about a ½ inch seam allowance.
On the fourth side, sew in several inches from both sides, leaving most of the middle open. Then sew a strip of Velcro along the bottom edge and top edge. Insert your pillow and press shut. You can take your pillow cover off to wash it or to change it with the seasons whenever you like.
Simple and Fun Slip Cover.
Making a slipcover for a rectangular ottoman is a great way to update its look quickly. Measure the top length and width. Measure the side length and width, and measure the end length and width. Add an inch to each edge of your measurements.
Position your fabric with right sides together and then sew the side pieces to the fabric’s top. Next, carefully sew each of the four corner seams. Try it on your ottoman to be certain that it fits correctly. Now flip it inside out and turn under the hem, iron and sew.
Easy to Sew Coffee Table Coasters and Runner Set.
A table runner can be sewn to add a touch of color to your coffee table. Simply decide the length and width that you desire and then cut out two strips of material. You can select two strips of the same material, or you can choose fabrics that complement one another. With right sides together, sew around all edges, leaving about six inches open at one end. Then turn the runner inside out and iron flat. Fold under the edges of the open six inches and sew shut. You can add tassels to the corners or fringe along the ends for embellishments if you wish.
To make coasters for your coffee table simply cut out two five-inch squares and one five-inch square of batting. With the right sides of two pieces of fabric together, place the piece of batting on top of the pile. Pin and sew, being sure to leave one end open. Snip corners, flip inside out and sew up the open end. Iron flat, and you now have a decorator coaster. Now do that five more times, and you have a set of decorator coasters. You are not limited to only a square design; you can sew any shape that you like.
