C 12 VR Mic
The AKG C 12 became a legend, not only over the many years that is have been around, with production starting in 1953, but also in its own time. The AKG C12 is revered throughout the industry for its warm and open sound, to the point that any time one comes onto the second-hand market, they get snaffled up in seconds, with recording engineers the world over constantly on the search for them.
Recently AKG decided to revive the legend and came out with the C 12 VR (Vintage Reissue). c414. Made to the same specifications as the original and although it incorporates modern technology and up to date features you’d expect from AKG it uses the original 6072A vacuum tube used in the C 12.
Features
AKG have been very faithful to the with this Vintage Reissue to make sure that the features reflect the sound and qualities of the original C 12 yet make sure it is kept up to the times with almost 50 years having passed since production of the C 12 stopped.
Here is the full list of modern features, plus the original C 12 touches:
- Uses the original 6072 vacuum tube
- Multiple patterns (nine total) remotely controlled with silent switching
- Classic 1-inch (25 mm) condenser tube performance of the original AKG C 12
- Internal microphone switching for pre-attenuation of -10, -20 dB and boost of +10 dB to accommodate all studio requirements.
- Uses the original 1950’s dual diaphragm design for sound that has the same warmth, clarity and presence of the original
- External (in control unit) two-position bass cut/roll-off
