Design Process Booklet

What is the typical cost of having album artwork designed?
I’m in the process of getting some album artwork completed however I don’t want to be robbed by a design company. My specs are as follows;
Front album artwork, back album artwork including spine, inner sleeve and also inner booklet containing Around 10 pages.
If there are any designers here would be good to get some sort of ball park figure on that, just to see what type of price I should be looking to pay. At present I don’t have a budget either.
“I don’t want to be robbed by a design company.”
Do you feel “robbed” when you go to the dentist to get your teeth taken care of?
Do you feel “robbed” when you go to a professional hairstylist to get a haircut?
ANY professional service costs money.
That’s because PROFESSIONALS go to school and get an education in how to perform the services you pay for.
That’s why the results are so good.
You want 10 pages of artwork AND an inner spine, and inner sleeve for an album, but don’t have a budget, and don’t want a professional to do it, because they will “rob” you…
I suggest you go to Deviant Art, there are many members who will work for free or VERY low cost (with results to match).
You might also try http://CGSociety.org they have jobs section, where you will find better caliber work at possibly a more affordable price.
But I would not hold my breath on it being inexpensive, in general…
Expect to pay a MINIMUM of about $250 for the album cover, and about $450 for the 10 page booklet, and that’s if it’s REALLY simple artwork. Anything complex, and the cost will go up accordingly.
At least, if you go through a professional, who will “rob” you, but provide you with what you want in a reasonable amount of time…
Good, Fast, Cheap. Pick any two is how a popular Graphics motto goes…
