Design Sticky Labels

How to remove name labels on clothes?
Is there a way to remove those sticky iron on name labels from clothes? Like the ones you get in hospitals for labelling patient’s clothes. Obviously, washing is out – those things are designed to stick on, and I doubt soaking would do the job, either.
I have loads of things that have them on, most of the clothes are in really good shape so I would rather give them to charity than bin them. However, I don’t know if charity would take them with labels on – I know I wouldn’t like to buy clothes with labels on them.
Or, would my best bet be just to pen over the name? Or cut my losses and just bin them? Some may be able to be cut off, but the ones I’ve looked at are pretty much in awkward places.
If anyone can give me some ideas I would be so happy! Thanks in advance.
I would try ironing the labels and peeling them off while they’re still really hot. Most name labels are attached to clothes by ironing them on. If that didn’t work, I’d just mark through them with a laundry marker. The new owners can always put their own labels over the existing ones. I’ve bought things at charity shops with names in them. As long as it’s not visible when worn, who cares?
