How to design a wideband amplifier?

Hello all,

I have to design a two stage amplifier using either bipolar or FET transistors or a combination of both, where I have to select suitable transistors capable of providing a voltage or a power gain of at least 100dB and covering frequencies from 100Hz to 10MHz.

I have no idea where to start, how to get such a gain and frequency or what to use and what is typical circuit of such an amplifier. I’d appreciate some help with any information that can help me reach the design specified above and an explanation of the steps used in the design.

THANKS!

I would look up “discover circuits” under wide band amplifiers . I would also study from text books what is a wide band amplifier. How wide is wide?? Is it 4 MHz?? The fT of the transistor has a role to play as also the input capacitance of stages, This is because of Cb’c of the transistor, and one may make use of emitter followers between stages to reduce the reduction of bandwidth due to source resistance of the previous stage. The combination of output resistance of previous stage and the input capacitance of next stage is like a low pass filter, that reduces the bandwidth.
