Career change from graphic design to web design – any opinions?

I have a university degree in design (from ‘abroad’, somewhat equivalent to a masters). I started working along with my studies, and counting all in all, (first internship/work experience, part-time jobs, a few free-lance jobs & the current full-time job), I have been working as a graphic designer in print and TV for 10 years.
I’ve had a full-time job for about a year and a half. It becomes increasingly obvious I am not interested at all in what the company does, and design-wise it’s so dull I feel like I’m being stupefied and forget how to create decent design work.
I’ve been toying with the idea of changing to web design. I’m aware of the market being swamped and that it’s the experienced guys who get a good salary (I’ve only done about four sites so far, and all they were drafts). But the web’s growing & there are too many awful websites by people who think they’re ‘designers’ just because they know how to use a computer programme.
Would I stand a chance to change to web?

I think you will fit in to the position of “UI designer”. Web designer is just web pages. But If you involved in UI Engineer the scope of it is high and you can develop the UI for desktop and web applciations. This wont involde loadz of coding as web designer but and interesting interface desinging experience.
