What major to get if I want to be a graphic designer?
I’m an incoming undecided/undeclared freshmen for UCI (University of California, Irvine). I’m really interested in graphic design but my school does not offer it. I thought about transferring but no other university I’m interested in offers it either. So I’ve decided to go to the art institute next summer to take some graphic art classes. I plan to continue going to both schools. So what major should I take at UCI that would help me with graphic design?
I’m planning on becoming a graphic design major and I would’ve applied to UCI because it’s close to where I live if they offered it… But they don’t, so I’m going to CSULB this fall. I would recommend going to a school that actually offers the major. CSULB, UCLA, and Chapman all have graphic design as a major. The Art Institute is kinda looked down upon, in my opinion. I’ve heard someone describe it as the McDonald’s of the art world.
