Industrial Design Salary Range

University help? University of Toronto or University of Waterloo?
Basically I am looking at
Honors Systems Design Engineering, Co-op at University of Waterloo
or
Industrial Engineering, Co-op at University of Toronto
The problem is, these 2 specializations sound exactly the same to me. Could anyone point out the differences and the similarities? Possible career opportunities and salary ranges? As many details as possible.
Also, I plan to get an MBA after. I don’t know if that matters but I decided to throw it out there anyway.
Also, comments about the schools (facilities, residences, profs, school life) will be greatly appreciated.
10 points for most helpful answer.
Cheers.
The difference is that Systems Design is concerned with combining parts/assemblies/ideas into, well, a useful system.
Industrial Engineering is concerned with increasing production efficiency — making things in a cheaper or more reliable manner.
Both schools are very good, and lead to well-paid careers.
Incidentally, unless you want to leave Engineering completely, a better Master’s would be a Master’s in Engineering Management, or a Master’s in Technology Management — not an MBA unless you get into one of the top MBA schools.
