Interior Design Brown Rooms

Help me choose a theme & color scheme!?
I’m moving back home and I desperately need to re-do my room so that everything actually flows together. I’m working with beige walls, light beige molding, and brown wood floors.
I need an idea that I can start with, and a color scheme also. I’m terrible at interior designing (plus I’m indecisive) so any help would be greatly appreciated!
Mab5096 (above) has it exactly right! Find that perfect fabric element (a pattern, print, or stripe) and that will set the tone for the room. It is MUCH easier to pick paint colors from fabric than try to find fabric to work with a paint color.
Even if you don’t paint, you can still add plenty of color by coordinating accessories and other fabrics (window treatments, for example) to your main fabric. Even if you have plain shades or blinds on the windows, you can make a topper-treatment with a piece of fabric that you buy, a silk scarf, even a table runner. You can find most of this stuff cheap at thrift-stores, Dollar Tree stores, yard sales, etc.
The best room designs kinda “evolve” … you fall in love with one item and acquire other things to go with it. Your color scheme will naturally do the same, and your “theme” (not every room needs a theme!) can be determined by the pattern of your fabrics, or the style of the objects and accessories that you choose for your room. Have fun with it!
