what is a fair salary for this job?
it’s a full-time (40 hr) position in a small independent kitchen shop/restaurant. I would be in charge of all purchasing for the retail aspect of the business, developing a new bridal registry program, increasing the scope of product offered by bringing in table linens and dinnerware, etc. to boost the registry, customer service, training 2-3 sales people, receiving all merchandise, checking it in when it arrives, and developing the merchandising/visual plan for the store and windows. I have ten years retail experience, several years as a manager, and several years in merchandising and interior design. Should this be a strict wage/salary position or low salary and high bonus based on performance? I was offered $1600 monthly plus monthly bonuses of 5-25% of the business’ increase over last year numbers…I was expecting in the neighborhood of $35K ann. plus small performance bonuses monthly or quarterly.
Way too low. Lowest legal salary for exempt employees is $455/wk. You have more than enough qualifications so don’t let them stiff you.
