profile design BIKE PROBLEMS headset installation : cant figure out how to put it on my bicycle.?
there’s a spring type mechanism that’s supposed to go in right beneath the cap, but i cant figure out how to tighten it. please help asap!. The headset kinda looks like this:

im not exactly sure what it is. I thought it was a star nut, but it doesnt look like the ones ive seen online. The allen bolt screws into it from the cap, and somehow it’s supposed to fit into the headset/fork but it doesnt. It has a small spring that can come off at the top.
I’m not exactly sure what we’re talking about. I’m guessing the expander that the allen screw threads into not a star nut. Since tightening the allen screw is the obvious answer, you must mean something else. Can you supply more detail?
EDIT: Yeah that sounds like some sort of expander nut that I don’t recall seeing. I’ve used star nuts and I have an FSA cap with a plug like expander on my carbon steerer tubed fork. Sorry I can’t help.
