Rethink Design Savannah

Is drawing a “must” for visual effects or animation?
I’m planning to attend Savannah College of Art and Design next fall, with intentions to major in Visual Effects and Minor in Animation. Do I need to have any artistic ability to have a career in Visual Effects or Animation (the more computer part of it)? I’m really creative, but I’m definitely not a good at drawing. I’d rather know now if it would be a necessity so that I can rethink my career path. Thanks for your time.
Base on my understanding it’s not a “must”…However drawing helps, especially if for your going into character animation(There are some really skill artist who cant draw, but yet create stunning 3D). If its the visual effects part then its not as important. But even if you cant draw, i would recommend that you at least try to understand Traditional 2D drawings, and practice drawing yourself… again practice will help, maybe you can learn to draw, just keep on practicing and you’ll get better.
ITS NOT A MUST.
Good Luck on your decision.!
