What is a good choice for job training in Michigan?
I am looking to go to school through the No Worker Left Behind Program, when the funds are available, I really don’t know what to go into. I have so many choices, but will it be the right choice? Some of the jobs they say are up and coming, there is no employment right now. Is a nursing assistant a good choice? Should I go into the film industry and does the program cover that field? Should I just get my associates degree in business? Or, maybe there is something else I haven’t even thought of. I like to do hair and makeup. I like to cook. I like art, fashion and designing. I like writing. I hate dealing with the public. I am not very good at numbers (math). Please help… the ideal career would be something that doesn’t require more than two years of training/schooling. Something that makes decent money and doesn’t require long hours, I have a kids. But, then again that is the ideal career everyone wants.
What about becoming an esthetician? Basically, you go to school for about 4 to 6 months depending on the program you select, you’ll learn how to do facials, massages, etc… After about 6 months you’ll pass the exam and get your license which will allow you to work in spa salon. This type of work will allow you to setup your own hours depending on clientelle and it sounds like this is something you’d want to do, be flexible, since you have kids. It also pays well. You can also set something up right at your home.
Another alternative is to become a hairdresser since you like to do hair and makeup.
Nursing Program is about 2 years and No Worker Left Behind Program doesn’t cover much, only very minimal. You’d still have to pay or get a loan. I tried to go through this program, also live in Michigan, I didn’t like the way it was being handled.
Associate degree won’t do anything for you, at a minimum you need to have a Bachelor’s Degree.
Working as a cook doesn’t pay well and it is a very stressful job.
